The X Waterskis factory has moved to an indoor space following completion of major cutting. During analysis though, it was found that the bottom pieces were not symmetrical fore to aft. While this probably would not negatively impact performance, we felt downstream manufacturing challenges could occur. As a result, the bottom section shapes were adjusted resulting in a loss of about 22 square inches. This resulted in a loss of about 7 lb of capacity. Even so, it appears that the skis will be adequate for a 140 lb skier.
The lack of symmetry also brought into question the original construction method where the bottom piece was traced based on the shape created by blocking the left and right pieces at the center and bending them together. We will be reevaluating that approach in the coming days as the pieces are drilled and temporarily assembled. After we are happy with how the stitched skis look, the wire will be snipped and the parts traced for future mass production.
